Kempton Park was founded in 1903, when Karl Wolff sub-divided a portion of his farm, Zuurfontein, into residential stands. The new town was named Kempten after his German town of birth in Bavaria. This town was declared a city in 1992, and boasts many restaurants, high schools and sports arenas. The city is host to the World Trade Centre and conveniently located to the OR Tambo International Airport.
