Swartruggens (black ridges) previously known as Zwartruggens is located in North West Province, it is a small farming town established in 1875. Located on the Elands River about 69km from Zeerust and 56 km west of the city of Rustenburg. The name 'swartruggens' is derived from the series of hills there.
