The vibrant city of Johannesburg, or also Jozi, Joburg, Joni, eGoli or Joeys, is the business centre of South Africa, and the second biggest city with 3 million business people. Johannesburg's area was first inhabited by the San, then the Bantu-speaking nomads, then Sotho-Tswana communities, then the Ndebele (Matabele) and then the Dutch. Gold was found in 1880 which triggered the gold rush, from which Gauteng grew to become one of the wealthiest provinces in South Africa.
