Mlawula Nature Reserve is a 18 000ha reserve situated on the border to Mozambique. Its location on the slopes of the Lebombo Mountains means its ground cover consists mainly of Thorn Savanna and open grasslands. The nature reserve is a perfect place to view game and various species of birds, but special precautions need to be taken for malaria and crocodiles. Fishing and walking trails are also available, and the reserve is open to guests all year.
