Cape Recife Lighthouse is situated on the Southern part of the Algoa Bay within the Cape Recife Nature reserve. The lighthouse was first commissioned in the mid 1800s and has been refurbished. The tower stand 24 meters high and is situated on a headland in the midst of a large expanse of sandy beach, built on a rock foundation known as D'Urban. Warning systems have a red light at 28 degrees, radio beacon and fog signal. All bookings to visit the lighthouse are done through Pine Lodge Resort Reception where someone from the lodge will accompany the visitors to the lighthouse to unlock. An entry permit can be purchase at the Pine Lodge Reception at a cost of ZAR145.00 per person.
