Coffee Bay also pronounced Koffiebaai in Afrikaans is a medium town on the Wild Coast region in Eastern cape Province of South Africa. The name was derived from the hundreds of coffee trees which grew from beans either scattered by a shipwreck or by plunderers. This happened after a ship lost its cargo of coffee beans in a wreck off the Wild Coast and the beans were washed up on the beach and they germinated into large number of coffee trees. However this is just a story that still gave the place a name but there are no longer any visible trees. This is a tourism destination not to miss with the long stretching beaches and the enchanting local music from the community. (Jun-15)
