Marquard is a small town situated in the Free State province of South Africa a rich farming community set up in 1905 and named after JJ Marquard who was an influential Dutch Reformed minister. The town falls under the Setsoto Local municipality. The town have some oldest buildings like the Dutch Reformed church dating back to 1905, a town hall and a cattle feeding lot with mixed breeds of cattle known as Sparta Beef which is also the largest employer in the town and an economic drive of the town.
