Hankey is a small town part of the Kouga Local Municipality of the Cacadu District in the Eastern Cape. The town is situated on the confluence of the of the Klein and Gamtoos rivers, was established in 1826 and named after the Rev. William Alers Hankey. It remains the oldest town in the Gamtoos Valley. Hankey is surrounded by beautiful hills and fertile farming land, en route from Port Elizabeth to the Baviaanskloof.
