Jwana Game Park was initially a lease area surrounding the Jwaneng Diamond Mine. The park is owned by the Debswana Diamond Company which operates the mine. Established in 1994, the 19 000ha park is fenced and has 12 water holes fed by the mine’s water system. You can expect to see a wide variety of antelope, giraffe, zebra, warthog, baboon, cheetah, ostrich, leopard, caracal and numerous smaller animal species. Tours of the diamond mine can be booked through the Jwaneng Mine Public Relations Office. If you’re travelling with kids, a visit to the Lion Park Resort will, no doubt, be much enjoyed. Featuring a roller coaster, beach, water slides and swings, this resort also has a science centre for the more seriously-minded of your offspring. There is no overnight accommodation available in this park. (Sep-2017).
