The town was formerly called ' Selukwe.' Situated within the Midlands province in Zimbabwe. The town is in a rural setting with villages and chiefs as heads. Agriculture is the main source of income in the area. The town grew as a result of the mine as it stretches on the Great Dyke, with mining of Gold and Chrome. In 2012 the population stood at close to 17 000 people.
