Ladismith is on the Route 62 between Barrydale and Calitzdorp. It is located under the Klein Swartberg Mountains, in the Klein Karoo, and is mainly a farming community. It is linked by tarred main roads to all major centres, including Cape Town (320km), Oudtshoorn (100km), Montagu (139km), George (160km), Mossel Bay (185km) and Port Elizabeth (420km). Ladismith has its own unique old-style buildings with several of them declared as national monuments. As a result they are various archaeological sites and ruins about the farmers, hunters and herdsmen and geological sites with different theories about their formation available on the sites. The town also famous for its fresh farm produce like cheese and wines are also available. Apricots, peaches, plums and grapes are but a few of the fruits that are produced here. All these products are sold on the R62 as you pass through the town. Golf, squash, cricket, birdwatching, and horse riding are some of the enjoyable activities in the town.
