Umkhondo Big Five is situated against the drop back of Langeberg Mountain Range within Garden route coast. This is a family run reserve with a beautiful garden and a refreshing swimming pool. The Umkhondo Big five is a volunteer project which aims to sustain and retain the environment to be a self sustaining ecosystem. The project embark on various activities such as Cheetah breeding projects, game tracking and relocation, lion interaction, Elephant interactions, Snake handling and reptile park upkeep Community involvement to mention just a few. Various courses are held throughout the year for wildlife conversation. This program therefore allows up-close, personal experiences with lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos and in the rare occurrence leopards. Volunteers will stay in the comfortable big farmhouse in the reserve that overlooks the hippo's favourite waterhole. Available for guests stay are dorms and luxury tents. (Jan-16).
