Pongola Nature Reserve was the first proclaimed reserve in Africa, by Paul Kruger as Pongola Game Reserve. After this it was de-proclaimed and then re-proclaimed as Phongola Nature Reserve. It surrounds the Jozini Dam and is owned by KZN Wildlife. Pongola game reserve no longer campsites. You can however find campsites at the nearby Sodwana Fishing Clubs' campsite. (2019).
