Nestled in the center of the stunning Baviaanskloof World Heritage Site, Doodsklip is a remote, off-the-grid campsite. Accessing the site typically requires a 4x4 vehicle due to the poor condition of the roads within the Reserve. The name "Doodsklip" stems from a dark history—several bodies were discovered in the area, their deaths surrounded by mystery. There are 5 campsites located in the Kouga Dam area within the Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve, 3 of the 5 sites have shade and most have grass cover. These sites are situated close to deep river pools, making them perfect for swimming. The campground is extremely rustic, there is no ablutions or water provided at the camp. All water to be brought in. Swimming in the Kouga River is at own risk and canoes can be used to explore. Bring your own. Visitors must be completely self-reliant. No power points - entirely off-grid. Braai on each site. Game viewing, no walking outside of designated campsite. Exclusively for 4x4's and off-road trailers, roof-top tents and tent camping only.
