Bwabwata National Park straddles the Zambezi and Kavango Regions of northeast Namibia and was formed in 2007 when the Mahango Game Reserve and the Caprivi Game Park were merged. The 6 274 km² park is co-managed by the Namibian Government and the local community who benefit from community-based tourism within the park. There are a combination of ‘multiple use areas’ and ‘three core conservation areas’ within the park, namely the Mahango Core Area, the Buffalo Core Area and the Kwando Core Area.
