Beaverlac Campsite lies 25 km north of Porterville, roughly 180 km north of Cape Town. The camp in the Olifants River Mountains is situated on the Grootfontein Farm and is a Natural Heritage Site. Facilities at Beaverlac are basic - there are no electricity points in the camping area and showers in the clean ablution block are mainly cold water There are a number of wooden cottages available for hire. There is also a shop on site which sells wood, ice, and other provisions. The farm is surrounded by mountains and has two rivers, the Ratel and Olifants running through it. A huge mountain pool, complete with waterfall is only a five-minute walk from the campsite.It should be mentioned that you have to prebook your stay. You are not allowed to arrive without a booking. From birdlife to waterfalls, or if taking a hike to a mountain pool is what you like, you are sure to find a hidden gem along the way.
